Village Rully Classification 1er Cru
Bottled yesterday. Gresigny is on the rock - all limestone. From old vines planted in 1950. This starts with firmer lines. More tightly wound fruit middle. There is a good mineral, dusty feel. Neatly focused but the fruit is ripe and concentrated here. I like it. Good impact, a big feel - more broad, but well fleshed-out shoulders than the Pucelles L&S (Oct 2017)
More body than the village wine and really very sleek and rewarding. Great stuff, Long and even slightly rich. Long. VGV Drinking range: 2019 - 2025 Rating: 16.5 Jancis Robinson MW OBE - www.JancisRobinson.com (Jan 2018)
Domaine Paul et Marie Jacqueson
The adventurous and sportif Paul Jacqueson has been at the head of this domaine for many years - but now his daughter Marie is heavily involved as the next generation moves in, this is no bad thing at all as she was named 'Young Winemaker of the Year' at the Hospices de Beaune in 2010 and she now represents the third generation of Jacquesons to be making wine here since her grandfather Henri started off in the 1950's with a small parcel of Aligoté.
They are making wines of impeccable quality, close indeed to their much more expensive cousins on the Côte d'Or. We have a particular fondness for the whites, and especially the Pucelle, which is a model of what a great Rully can be year after year. However, the reds too are on a charge and improve almost every year.
